An Apple CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit kit could soon be available for early examples of the second-generation Renault Koleos sold in Australia.
Koleos II, which has just had a model year 2020 revamp in Australia, including the axing of its diesel engine, was released in July 2016 without the smartphone mirroring feature.
It was added as standard equipment from December 2017.
The retrofit will be available for selected Renault Koleos vehicles fitted with a 7.0-inch and 8.7-inch screen R-Link II infotainment system.
A rough calculation using VFACTS sales data indicates a pool of about 4000 vehicle might be eligible.
The retrofit is expected to be introduced in the first quarter of 2020, although the exact date and pricing are yet to be confirmed.
Both a hardware and software upgrade will be required and it will take around an hour to install.
The system is currently undergoing local validation testing on both company cars and customer vehicles supported by Renault Australia’s engineering team.
The retrofit won’t be available for R-Link II models other than Koleos, or other R-Link I media-nav systems.
