SPY PICS: 2024 Bugatti Chiron replacement seen for first time

Two separate sightings give us our first proper look at Bugatti’s next world-beating speed machine

The 2024 Bugatti Chiron successor has been spied twice in the past three days as the countdown to its mid-year reveal continues.

There’s been no indication yet as to what the next-generation hypercar will be called, however these first spy images make it clear the new Super Bug will look every bit as menacing as its ferocious V16 hybrid powertrain sounds.

Sharing styling cues with the Chiron and the pioneering Veyron, one of the two covert photos was posted to the German Car Forum by a now-deleted user claiming to have an inside contact at Bugatti-Rimac.

Shot from behind a crowd of onlooking Rimac staff, the camouflaged prototype’s rear-end is completely different to the Chiron’s and instead resembles the coach-built Bugatti La Voiture Noire with its flowing lines and bold diffuser.

It’s not until we see a profile image published by Top Gear that parallels between the prototype and the Chiron become obvious, although the new model has a more pointed nose along the lines of the classic EB 110 SS and various other more modern speed machines like the Rimac Nevera.

Details are still thin on the ground at the time of writing, but the good news is there shouldn’t be too much longer to wait before the new model is unmasked and detailed.

It’s all but guaranteed the electrified V16 will outmuscle the Chiron’s legendary quad-turbo W16 that peaked at 1176kW/1600Nm, as well as improve on its 2.4sec 0-100km/h time and quite possibly its 440km/h top speed.

Bugatti Rimac boss Mate Rimac has been promising for years now that the next Bugatti hypercar would be a monster and retain an internal combustion engine – and both these assurances have thus far been delivered.
