The eight-year production run of the Bugatti Chiron has received a fitting send-off with the one-off 2024 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport L’Ultime.
Featuring bespoke exterior paint and commemorative badging, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport L’Ultime not only calls time on Chiron – as the 500th example of the hypercar – but heralds the last example of the quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine that retires with it.
Bugatti’s next-generation hypercar will feature a wild 746kW metre-long naturally-aspirated V16.
The Chiron farewell edition looks striking in French Racing Blue that blends with Atlantic Blue, while along the fenders and doors are the names of all the pivotal places that played a role in the Chiron’s development and lifecycle – Geneva, the Paul Ricard circuit, Ehra-Lessien proving ground, Chateau Saint Jean, Cape Canaveral and Molsheim (Bugatti’s HQ), to name a few.
Other blue elements include the wheels and the famous Bugatti Macaron emblem on the horseshoe grille, while the handwritten ’500’ build number is displayed underneath the rear wing and on the wheel caps, among other places.
The French flag appears on the mirror caps, while the cabin features Deep Blue leather upholstery, blue carbon-fibre inserts and French Racing blue accents.
Under the rear bonnet the quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 produces the same 1177kW and 1600Nm of torque as the regular Chiron Super Sport, which starts at £3.5 million ($A6.7m) in the UK.
That means it will be capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 2.4 seconds and 0-300km/h in 12.1 seconds, before topping out at 439km/h.
“This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June,” said Bugatti president Christophe Piochon.
