SPY PICS: Benz to revive SLC?

A prototype photographed while testing could be a fixed-roof version of the SL

Some of the old codgers here recall the C107 SLC Mercs from the seventies and since we're not all 'wind-in-the-hair' types, would welcome a similar vehicle from Benz, updated for the 21st Century.

Such a car has been spotted at the Nurburgring by our equally old and codgerly spy photographers at Carparazzi. Without the folding steel roof, the SLC would actually be a little lighter on its feet and would boast a lower centre of gravity -- unlike its 2+2 predecessor, which was certainly heavier than the soft-top two-seater.

This new car, according to Carparazzi, will be a very focussed sports machine, fettled by AMG and delivered with possibly the 6.2-litre V8 from the CLK 63 AMG. If so, the engine may develop even more power than it its current form. A test mule has been snapped by Carparazzi previously (more here).
