SPY PICS: Next-gen BMW 3 Series coupe spotted

Does three into four go? BMW's latest 3 Series sedan could grow into 4 Series, embracing two and four-door coupes, plus a convertible

These dizzyingly camouflaged spy photos from Carparazzi invite speculation about BMW’s plans for coupe versions of its new 3 Series just unveiled in Europe.

Amid rumours that the Bavarian company will emulate rival Audi with two and four-door versions of the coupe, as well as a convertible, these photos give at least a good idea of its profile view.

Clearly a two-door here, the tapered-back 3 Series looks as if it could accommodate rear doors teaming up with shorter front doors.

Word is that the next generation 3 Series will blossom into a 4 Series range of two and four-door coupes, similar to Audi’s A4-A5 approach and along similar lines to BMW’s own plans for its 6 Series.

Bottom line here though, is that the images show pretty clearly how the sixth generation 3 Series F32 two-coupe will look. It appears to be pretty much an evolution of the current model, maybe a bit lower-slung, with the obligatory Hofmeister kick on the rear side windows. For details, check the sixth-generation F30 sedan due to be released in Australia during the first half of 2012.
