Toyota has renewed its affiliation with the Australian Football League for three more years.
David Buttner, senior executive director sales and marketing for Toyota Australia, delivered the announcement yesterday at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne. It is, according to Buttner, the largest sports sponsorship deal in the country, but neither the company nor the AFL has revealed the value of the deal.
This is what the Toyota boss had to say...
"Earlier today, AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou... and I signed a contract that confirms Toyota's sponsorship of the AFL Premiership and the AFL Finals Series for a further three years.
"This is the largest sports sponsorship in the country. As part of our commitment, Toyota is reinforcing its commitment to grassroot, good-for-footy program; funded in conjunction with our dealers in Victoria, southern New South Wales and Tasmania.
"This program will now be expanded to provide access to baseline concussion testing for more than 25,000 players at 130 clubs. This is an important issue that further demonstrates Toyota's commitment to safety at all levels of the game.
"We are delighted to continue our partnership with the AFL...
Present on the Toyota stand for the announcement were well known AFL players, Luke Hodge, Lenny Hayes, Luke Ball and Brendon Goddard.
