The facelifted 2025 Nissan X-Trail has surfaced in Japan with a number of cosmetic and tech upgrades, as well as a pair of specialised Rock Creek (adventure) and NISMO (performance) versions, though it’s unclear when the new model will come to Australia.
Sporting an updated design mirroring that of the North American Nissan Rogue, the 2025 X-Trail’s biggest upgrade comes in the form of its Google-powered 12.3-inch infotainment system and NissanConnect connected services.
With Google Maps and Assistant now included as standard along with the remote-control benefits of connected services, the other major tech upgrade is the 3D and invisible bonnet views for the 360-degree camera.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are present, as is an in-car Wi-Fi modem.
Having already been previewed by the equivalent Rogue last year, the all-new X-Trail Rock Creek is Nissan’s latest attempt to tap into the more-capable road-bias SUV market, though it doesn’t actually feature any mechanical upgrades to make it better off the beaten path.
Instead, its upgrades are largely cosmetic, extending to a unique front grille and bumper treatment, plenty of ‘Rock Creek’ badging, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, red accents and black roof rails.
Inside the cabin you’ll find more red accents, red stitching, black waterproof Cellcross upholstery and a black headliner.
Thankfully the upgrades made to the X-Trail NISMO have been far more in-depth and actually yield more (dynamic) capability.
As expected, the dual-motor e-Power hybrid system hasn’t had any extra power screwed out of it, but the corresponding e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system has been reprogrammed for more rear bias to match the specially tuned Kayaba Swing Valve shock absorbers.
The whole package rolls on 20-inch Enkei wheels shod with fat 255/45 profile Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubber.
Other upgrades include the obligatory NISMO body kit (yielding a 29% increase in downforce), recalibrated drive modes (plus a Sport mode), an ‘optimised’ power steering tune, a red and black interior, optional Recaro bucket seats and a 12 o’clock marker for the steering wheel.
Nissan Australia hasn’t confirmed anything to do with the facelifted X-Trail other than the NISMO, this far, being a Japan-only offering.
Odds are the new model will arrive Down Under either in the closing stages of the year or in the first half of 2026.
