World Premiere of the New Audi R10 In Paris

Audi webcast the unveiling of its R10 sports racer live from Paris last night...

Audi unveiled its latest Le Mans sports racecar last night. And the world was there. The innovative German marque webcast the debut of the R10 sports racer live from Paris from 10.00pm (Eastern Summer Daylight Time) Dec 13.

The R10 is the replacement for the marque's R8 racer (pictured). The open top twin-turbo V8 racer has served Audi for six years, winning 61 of the 77 races it contested – five of them the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Last night's presentation and press conference was beamed worldwide from the centre of Paris. The R10 unveiled was, amazingly, diesel-powered.

Said Audi yesterday: "There has already been a great deal of speculation concerning the new Audi sports car in the media. One thing is certain - because of its new technology and numerous innovative details, the R10 is one of the most ambitious projects ever to have been implemented at Audi Sport."

Indeed... Once the covers were off the extent of the unconventional nature of the racer was evident. At its centre, a V12 5.5-litre TDI engine expected to produce more than 650hp and 1100Nm of torque
