Yamaha suspension for 2026 Mitsubishi Triton

Updated Japanese dual-cab to ride and handle better with help from Yamaha

The News

An updated 2026 Mitsubishi Triton has debuted in Japan sporting Yamaha performance dampers in a bid to improve the ute’s ride and handling characteristics, though the updates haven’t been confirmed for Australia… yet.

The Key Details

  • 2026 Mitsubishi Triton fitted with Yamaha performance dampers
  • Ride comfort and handling both said to benefit with no payload impact
  • Dampers complimented by new body mounts
  • Panasonic Nanoe X air purification system also added
  • Likely to be confirmed for Australia later in the year

The Finer Details

The emergence of a suspension update for the Triton perhaps isn’t too surprising given the current setup was arguably one of the model’s biggest foibles when pushed, especially the front end.

According to Mitsubishi’s head office, the Yamaha-supplied dampers are derived from the units used on the brand’s Triton AXCR rally car and reduce “up and down shaking when going over bumps” as well as “minute vibrations transmitted from the engine”.

Thus far, the new hardware has only been confirmed for the flagship GSR grade in Japan, but expectations are that the new settings will be rolled out across the dual-cab range in Australia, possibly enhanced further by some local tuning.

The Road Ahead

carsales understands a model year update is being planned for the Triton later in 2026, though details are next to non-existent.

That said, it would be safe to expect some sort of local suspension overhaul given the next-generation D27 Nissan Navara – a Triton in a tracksuit – will feature Premcar-fettled suspension across the board.

More information will come to light in the coming months.
