The new-generation 2024 MINI Cooper SE electric car will be offered with the option of a new JCW Trim that adds the styling from the brand’s fastest and most extreme hot hatch – but no more power.
Tick the box for the MINI Cooper SE in JCW Trim and it adds a set of new two-tone 10-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, red-painted JCW brake callipers, bonnet stripes, front diffuser, grille surround and bonnet logo finished in red and, finally, Chilli Red roof and mirror caps.
Other changes include LED headlights that feature a unique-to-JCW twin horizontal striped light signature.
Inside, there’s JCW sport seats finished in faux leather with red stitching, black and red door and dash highlights and a JCW-specific fabric chequered flag dash covering.
The large central OLED infotainment system, meanwhile, gets a new Go-Kart mode that changes the ambient lighting to red and sharpens up the throttle responses.
Sadly, despite the extra visual sportiness, the MINI Cooper SE in JCW Trim gets no more power, making do with the regular version’s single electric motor that produces 160kW and 330Nm of torque.
Combined with a 54.2kWh battery, the MINI Cooper SE in JCW Trim can travel up to 402km (WLTP) on a single charge.
Speaking of which, a fast charge up to 95kW sees a 10-80 per cent top-up take around 30 minutes.
Off the line, the all-electric Cooper SE can accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 6.7 seconds.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the MINI Cooper SE in JCW Trim, but it is expected to be available in the Australian line-up when the Chinese-built all-electric hatch finally lands here in the third quarter of 2024.
“The all-electric MINI Cooper SE in the new John Cooper Works Trim combines a passion for iconic design, legendary performance and sustainable mobility,” said MINI boss Stefanie Wurst.
“It is the epitome of efficiency and driving pleasure.”
