Audi’s piping-hot new SQ5 is still months away from Australian showrooms, but the German luxury giant has already released an upmarket limited-edition version of the mid-size super-crossover for Europe.
Based on the twin-turbo diesel SQ5 that’s due Down Under in the first half of next year – and which itself is based on the facelifted Q5 model confirmed for local release in November – the ‘SQ5 TDI Exclusive’ will be presented as a concept at the Paris Motor Show debut later this month. This is despite the fact Audi has confirmed just 50 examples will be released in Europe, designed to showcase “new design solutions” from Audi’s go-faster division, quattro GmbH.
There are no changes to the 230kW 3.0-litre biturbo diesel six in the SQ5 – Audi’s first diesel-powered S model – but the SQ5 Exclusive features a number of interior and exterior design elements, including the specifically created Aral Blue crystal-effect paintwork.
Like all S models, the SQ5 comes with aluminium-capped side mirrors and Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, while the rear-end is punctuated by a pair of twin exhaust outlets.
In addition, the Exclusive scores Fine Nappa leather trim with ‘snow white’ contrast stitching for its dashboard, multi-function steering wheel, gearshift lever, centre armrest and sports seats – the latter featuring woven leather for the first time in any production model, says Audi.
Snow white Alcantara also graces the headlining, sunroof blind and door trims, while natural grain ash interior veneers and ‘Audi exclusive’ door sills add further exclusivity.
