Pricing for the incoming 2022 Genesis GV60 has been confirmed today, with the first EV from the South Korean luxury brand to open at $103,400 plus on-road costs.
Positioned well upstream of the Hyundai-Kia Group’s current EV flagships – the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 – the closely-related 2022 Genesis GV60 is set to launch in the coming months with two models: the entry-level Lux AWD and top-flight Performance Lux AWD.
The GV60 Performance Lux AWD will be priced $7300 above the Lux AWD at $110,700 plus ORCs.
In comparison, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 AWD is priced from $75,900 plus ORCs, while the Kia EV6 AWD starts at $82,990 plus ORCs.
The Genesis GV60 will line up against small battery-electric premium SUVs such as the Volvo XC40 EV (from $76,990), Mercedes-Benz EQA (from $78,513) and the incoming BMW iX1.
Hyundai Australia, which declined to comment on the pricing details published today, appears not to be launching with the Genesis GV60 RWD version, which uses a 168kW/350Nm single-motor rear-wheel drive powertrain.
Instead, the Korean car-maker’s familiar dual-motor all-wheel drive system takes centre stage, opening with the 234kW/605Nm Lux and upping the ante to 360kW/700Nm with the Lux Performance, which will be closely aligned to the forthcoming Kia EV6 GT.
Headline features on the GV60 include high-tech digital exterior mirrors, an interactive ‘Crystal Sphere’ gear shifter, a dual-screen display, rich leather upholstery, simulated drivetrain sounds and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
