Lamborghini has released a new video of its extreme Huracan Performante being tested on Germany's Nurburgring.
During the short 43-second film, the Italian supercar maker demonstrates its Ferrari 488 GTB rival's new active aerodynamic.
Developed under the name "Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva", the new tech includes a new active front splitter that uses a flap to either maximise downforce for less front-end lift, or closes to minimise drag for a higher top speed.
At the rear of the Huracan is a new large wing that can also adjust automatically to change its wind-bending capabilities to either favour downforce or less drag.
If that alone isn't enough to boost performance around a track compared to the standard car the Performante will also weigh in around 90-100kg lighter than the regular coupe.
That's because it will make extensive use of a new material called "forged composites".
Developed alongside the Calloway Golf Company, the new carbon-fibre-rivalling material has already been used on a Lamborghini back in 2010, on the wild Sesto Elemento.
Under the rear boot lid the lightweight Performante is almost certain to come with a more powerful version of the regular car's 449kW/560Nm 5.2-litre V10.
Expect the V10 to be boosted to around 490kW/590Nm.
More details and at least one more tease of the Huracan Performante is expected before its launch at the Geneva motor show on March 7.
In Europe, the fastest-ever Huracan this side of the GT3 racer will be on sale shortly after its unveiling, while our cars should arrive early 2018.
