Prospective Honda buyers should mark August 25 on their calendars if they want to take advantage of the company’s Once a Year Day Sale.
Australian Honda dealers are offering customers the opportunity to purchase just about any new model in the company’s lineup before August 29 at a super-low annual finance rate of 1.5 per cent. The offer, which is underwritten by Honda Financial Services, does not extend to the new Civic hatch but does include selected demonstration models.
Honda Australia director and general manager of sales and marketing, Mr. Stephen Collins, said the Once a Year Day Sale is Honda’s biggest sale event of the year.
“Our 1.5 per cent per annum finance offer is just another example of Honda’s commitment to providing customers with outstanding value for money,” he said.
The company is on the comeback trail after suffering from recent natural disasters, but overall sales remain pretty stagnant for 2012 with year-to-date figures, at 19,022, actually down three per cent on 2011. The new Civic and revised Jazz and Odyssey models are helping lift Honda’s figures, but the company is in dire need of the upcoming replacement for its CR-V SUV, which is due towards the end of the year.
Among the Japanese full importers, Mazda continues to be the segment’s high-flyer with 60,084 year to date sales — up 18.3 per cent over 2011 — followed by Nissan which, with 46,034 sales so far, is up 17.5 per cent over 2011. As for the rest, Mitsubishi, down 5.2 per cent with 34,567 sales, is in a similar position to Honda, while Subaru, at 24,364 sales, is 12.4 per cent ahead of this time last year.
Korean importer Hyundai is ahead of all the Japanese apart from Toyota and Mazda, with 52,913 sales for the year so far, up 5.4 per cent on 2011, while emergent Kia, with 18.146 sales so far in 2012, is 23.4 per cent ahead of the same time last year.
Importer/manufacturer Toyota remains the clear leader with year to date sales at 123,815, which is 26.2 per cent ahead of last year.
