Lamborghini has finally detailed the long-awaited 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, bringing an end to one of the Italian supercar marque’s longest and most elaborate teaser campaigns that can be traced right back to mid-2019.
The Sterrato was shown in production form earlier this month, but the company went little further than showing off the bodywork.
Now, however, we can confirm the “all-terrain super-sports car” rides 44mm higher than the standard Lamborghini Huracan Evo, with increased track widths of 30mm (front) and 34mm (rear).
The extra ground clearance is accompanied by a longer suspension stroke, bespoke Bridgestone Dueller AT002 tyres, an armoury of underbody protection, reinforced sills and cosmetic touches like LED light bars, roof rails, flared arches and functional roof scoop.
Those purpose-built Bridgestones feature run-flat technology which should allow the Sterrato to reach a service centre from a remote location at up to 80km/h in the event of a puncture – a wise move given the sort of speeds the car is capable and the terrain it can cover.
The Sterrato is fitted with Lambo’s lauded 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine, pumping out 455kW of power and 560Nm of torque in this application – enough to launch it from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and push on to a tyre-limited 260km/h.
All that V10 fury is harnessed by the familiar seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system, however both units as well as the traction and stability control systems have been remapped courtesy of the updated Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics (LDVI) system.
Strada and Sport modes have new parameters better suited to the rougher terrain the Sterrato has been designed to traverse, while a unique Rally mode is added for when drivers venture off the tarmac.
A carbon-ceramic braking package is fitted standard, comprising ventilated rotors measuring 380x38mm and 356x32mm front/rear, gripped by six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers.
The Sterrato’s interior is characterised by its unique green Alcantara upholstery with the exclusive look and feel complemented by unique graphics and off-road-specific read-outs for the infotainment system and digital cockpit.
The latter include an inclinometer, pitch and roll indicator, compass, coordinates read-out and steering angle indicator.
It also comes with a connected telemetry system that allows the driver to monitor performance and analyse data via the UNICA app, as well as sync their Apple Watch to factor in heartrate.
“With the high-speed all-terrain concept of the Sterrato, we have uniquely combined the driving experience of a true sports car and the fun of a rally car,” said Lamborghini chief technical officer Rouven Mohr.
“Lamborghini cars always deliver emotion: the Sterrato delivers a new degree of driving thrills.”
A Lamborghini spokesperson confirmed the Sterrato is headed to Australian showrooms – most likely next year – and said local pricing and specification details would be communicated in the coming weeks.
