Mercedes-Benz teases 'something' from AMG
New video previews C 63 AMG... or perhaps the GT3/Black Series version of the GT?Mercedes-Benz has uploaded a video sure to pique the curiosity of any high-performance car enthusiast.
The video, embedded below, shows footage of an AMG-engined Mercedes circulating a closed track at race speeds. Just a matter of months out from the Frankfurt motor show, Benz will presumably reveal the vehicle in the video at that time, but in the meantime it leaves the obvious question begging – just which AMG model is it?
Most likely is the C 63 AMG, which MB has already confirmed will be making its debut at the show – and which Benz has already officially teased pictorially. But other candidates include the AMG GT Black Series – assuming that's what it will be called – which is understood to be a road-going version of the AMG GT GT3, albeit powered by a tweaked version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 rather than the venerable 6.2-litre atmo V8 under the bonnet of the race version.
And a long shot would be the E 63 AMG, which is not expected to be at Frankfurt, or perhaps the vehicle is one of the AMG-fettled versions of the new GLC and GLE SUVs... but on a racetrack?
Stranger things have happened though, and would you put it past Benz to try and take some of the shine off SVO-enhanced Range Rover models?
