MINI Australia has released a range of special-edition models to mark the 60th anniversary of the original 1959 Mini produced by British Motor Corporation.
Available in both three-door and five-door hatchback body styles and in Cooper and Cooper S spec, the MINI 60 Years Editions are now available to order in limited numbers.
All examples feature exclusive paint, '60 Years' badgework, unique upholstery, specific interior finishes and the debut of a new 17-inch 60 Years alloy wheel design.
Priced from $33,900 plus on-road costs in MINI Cooper 3-door form ($4000 more than the standard model), MINI says the 60-year special-edition brings an extra $8500 of added value.
In detail, there’s a “newly-interpreted” metallic version of the iconic British Racing Green paint-work, paired with a Pepper White roof and door mirrors.
Inside, MINI Yours Leather Lounge upholstery in Dark Cacao contrasts with green contrast piping and 60 Year detailing and edition-specific Piano Black door bezels.
Alternatively, customers can specify Midnight Black Lapis Luxury Blue paint with Jet Black roof and mirrors and a Carbon Black interior without edition-specific piping or detailing.
In all versions, the MINI 60 Years emblem graces the door projection and various cabin surfaces, including the MINI Yours leather-clad steering wheel.
MINI 60 Years Edition models don’t just bring window dressing. In Cooper form they add popular options like Comfort Access, LED headlights, heated front seats and wireless phone charging.
For MINI Cooper S models the extras include a Panorama Glass Sunroof, Harman Kardon Hi-Fi system and Head-Up Display.
These features are in addition to a 6.5-inch MINI Navigation system with Real Time Traffic Information, MINI Connected Services, Apple CarPlay and Rear Park Distance Control with Reversing Camera.
MINI Cooper S versions, which upgrade from a 100kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol triple to a 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four, add LED headlights, Union Jack tail-lights, MINI Driving Modes, Comfort Access, wireless phone charging and dual-zone climate-control.
“This year we are celebrating an exceptional brand milestone, and what better way to commemorate this than with a special edition model,” said MINI Australia general manager, Brett Waudby.
“The MINI 60 Years Edition offers excellent customer value with specific design details that encompass the MINI legacy, such as iconic exterior finishes and timeless interior elements.
“It’s a fitting tribute for six decades of spectacular innovation,” he said.
