MINI has revealed the John Cooper Works tune-up kit for the new Cooper S at this month's Geneva motor show.
The MINI Cooper S's 1.6-litre twin scroll turbo engine manages 141kW with the JCW kit, with maximum torque of 250Nm between 1700 and 5000 rpm. The turbo engine also features an 'Overboost' function which ups the torque for a short period to 270Nm between 1750 and 4500 rpm.
The tuning kit consists of a sports exhaust system, a sports air filter and an electronic engine management system optimised for greater power efficiency.
John Cooper Works accessories, both cosmetic and mechanical, are also available for the new Cooper S, including sports chassis with lower suspension settings (by 10mm), front perforated brake discs and a selection of 18-inch light alloy wheels.
These options can be combined with numerous other features from the JCW accessory range such as body-coloured aerodynamics packages, sports seats, sports steering wheel and selected carbon-fibre interior fittings.
The Cooper S can be ordered with carbon-fibre exterior treatments for the front air inlet, exterior mirrors and tailgate handle. The trim is also suitable for the MINI Cooper models. A John Cooper Works roof spoiler in carbon fibre is also available.
Customers can also choose between leather or alcantara trim for the steering wheel, and can order the new Cooper with extra driving lamps, illuminated sill covers... even Union Jacks painted on the back of the rear view mirrors and door mirrors, and for the door handle trim. If misplaced ethnocentrism doesn't do it for you, try on MINI's roof decals which include a helicopter landing pad motif.
Details regarding availability and pricing for the mechanical John Cooper Works kits for the Australian market will be available shortly, but cosmetic options can be ordered on new MINIs now.
