The 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GSR is now available for order in Australia, headlining the Japanese brand’s updated Triton-based large SUV range.
Prices have increased for existing 4x4 models by around $1500, although as we reported late last year the entry point to the range has dropped significantly with a new 4x2 version of the GLX five-seater.
This is now confirmed as being $43,940 plus on-road costs, marking a $3550 reduction in entry price, while the 4x4 version now starts higher at $48,940 plus ORCs (+$1450).
A new 4x2 seven-seater in GLS trim is listed at $48,690 plus ORCs.
See below for the full price list and model line-up, but the former range-topping Exceed (now from $59,190) has been eclipsed by the sporty GSR.
Joining GSR versions of the ASX small SUV, Outlander medium SUV and Triton ute, the new Pajero Sport GSR flagship gets a black pack featuring a darker grille, headlight garnishes and roof rails, plus black 18-inch alloy wheels.
It also gets a GSR badge on the tailgate and is offered with black or white paintwork only.
Mitsubishi might up the ante even further later this year with Ralliart accessories for Pajero Sport, as demonstrated on Outlander and Eclipse Cross in Japan this week.
Rivalling the Isuzu MU-X and Toyota Fortuner, among others, all MY22 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport models are powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine (133kW/430Nm) hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Given its Triton ute-based underpinnings, the Pajero Sport SUV has a 3000kg towing capacity, rising to 3100kg for 4x4 versions.
All Mitsubishi Pajero Sport variants are fitted as standard with adaptive cruise control, driver’s seat lumbar adjust, trailer stability assist, LED headlights and tail-lights, an electric park brake and an 8.0-inch central touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Pajero Sport GLS variants add tinted windows, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a powered tailgate and satellite navigation.
Top-shelf Exceed and GSR models get all the above along with a digital trip computer, heated front seats, an eight-speaker stereo, plus blind spot warning, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.
All models are backed by a 10-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty (with conditions attached) and 10 years’ capped-price servicing plan.
