The pressure will be on Uwe Hagen, newly appointed Audi Australia Managing Director, to continue to brand's record of 62 consecutive months of sales growth. Hagen replaces former Audi Oz boss Joerg Hofmann who returned to Germany earlier this year.
Hagen, 52, officially begun his role on March 1 and comes from a six year term as Head of Audi Sales for the Western German region. That role meant he oversaw 130 dealers, and during his tenure he saw Audi take over the top spot in the prestige segment.
He also comes with knowledge of one of Audi's chief rivals, having worked for BMW for 14 years between 1990 and 2004.
Coming off the back of another strong sales month in February that saw Audi continue its streak, Hagen faces a very different task than his predecessor. While Hofmann needed to build the brand up and rejuvenate the dealer network, Hagen is now in a much better position to try and knock off BMW and Mercedes-Benz to make Audi Australia's leading premium brand.
Under Hofmann's rule, that began in 2004, Audi Australia began its aggressive growth that saw it record double digit growth each year; including an impressive 25 per cent in 2007 followed by a further 30 per cent in 2008. Hofmann also oversaw the construction of Audi Australia's new headquarters, the Lighthouse, in Sydney.
