Local PSA (Peugeot and Citroen) distributor Sime Darby must be wondering what it takes to find customers for the Peugeot 308.
Last month, the 308, which was Europe's car of the year in 2014 and has received plenty of favourable press in Australia, sold just 111 units in Australia. During the same month, Volkswagen sold 1645 units of the Golf.
If the latest tactic – offering the entry-level 308 Access with free automatic transmission and a five-year/100,000km extended warranty at a drive-away price of $22,990 – doesn't do the trick, what will?
It's not only the 308 that is the subject of this new retail incentive. Both the Peugeot 2008 Active and the 4008 will be sold during March with free automatic and the extended (five-year/100,000km) warranty. The 2008 Active is priced at $25,990, including on-road costs. Peugeot will also sell the 2008 Allure and Outdoor variants with the extended warranty cover.
And the 4008 Active is priced at $29,990 with the extended warranty and automatic transmission. Additionally, the Mitsubishi-built SUV is offered with 18-inch alloy wheels, a chrome highlight pack and two metallic paints (Arctic Silver or Azuki Red) at no extra cost.
The retail incentives for 308, 2008 and 4008 are scheduled to end March 31.
