Renault website a tribute to marque's legacy

Fanciers of the French brand have a new forum to bring them together
The Renault Classic website was launched earlier this week, offering brand enthusiasts a new means of researching the car manufacturer's long history.
According to press material released by the company, the new website, sets out to fortify the relationship between the brand and its customers, including owners of Alpine sports cars and Gordinis. But first and foremost it's aimed at putting enthusiasts in touch with marque car clubs.
Renault reasons that with "several hundred Renault clubs worldwide", the website was the obvious facility to take the challenge out of tracking down names and contact details for aspiring club members – as well as furnishing potted histories of the more illustrious models in Renault's history. The company claims that the site provides information concerning over 740 vehicles – in addition to the "several thousand linear metres of archives", 3200 scale models or toys, 1900 posters and 270 1:5 scale mock-ups.
Prior to the website, Renault Classic worked tirelessly to maintain a "living collection" that frequently underpins motor shows, magazines, TV documentaries and historic motorsport events. Last year the division presented items from the collection at 200 events. Renault Classic assists 2550 registered collectors and 305 clubs.
