Lamborghini has previewed its wildest, most unhinged version of the Huracan yet after teasing a single picture of what's rumoured to be called the Lamborghini Huracan STO ahead of its official online reveal on November 18.
Featuring an unmistakable huge rear wing and wider fenders, the Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologato) is set to be an extreme street-legal version of its Super Trofeo Evo racer that competes around the world.
Created to go head-to-head with cars like the McLaren 765LT and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, it's thought the fastest-ever version of the Huracan will ditch the Performante's neat active aero for a track-focused adjustable fixed rear wing and splitter.
Extensive weight-saving measures, meanwhile, are rumoured to have carved a mighty 135kg off the Huracan Performante's kerb weight, suggesting it will also switch from all-wheel drive to rear-drive.
Under the rear bootlid, there's no word on how much more power engineers have squeezed from the Huracan Evo's 5.2-litre V10, but there could be healthy gains over the current 470kW and 600Nm of torque.
The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will almost certainly carry over, but could get shorter ratios for more explosive mid-gear acceleration.
Against the clock, expect a 0-100km/h time of around 2.7 seconds, although top speed is likely to be less than the Huracan Evo's 325km/h on account of extra drag generated by the bigger wing.
Bigger brakes and a fully adjustable suspension is expected to be introduced to help cope with the higher temperatures associated with track use.
When it's launched later this week, it's thought Lamborghini will announce that only a small number of Huracan STOs will be produced with a price tag expected to hover around $650,000.
