SPY PICS: Lamborghini Huracan hybrid replacement spied

The 2024 Lamborghini Huracan successor has been spotted testing on public roads in Germany ahead of its global reveal next year.

Spotted up close and personal by one of our European spy photographers, it’s clear the Huracan replacement will don a similar exterior look to the flagship V12 plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Revuelto, despite the engineering team’s best efforts to make the prototype look like a series-one Gallardo.

Below the obviously fake Gallardo headlight decals are the actual headlight clusters which look to be set deep into the front fascia and appear to replicate the Revuelto’s darkened dual-beam arrangement.

The thick and elaborate camouflage wrap prevents us from seeing too much, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the baby bull ends up with a shrunken version of the flagship’s T-shaped daytime running light signatures.

One key difference between the two designs is the apparent location of the driver assist and safety system cameras: the Revuelto has them integrated into its nose cone while the Huracan successor’s are mounted proudly in front of the primary intakes.

We hasten to add that the hardware could be moved inboard for the production model – as evidenced by the singular lens on the front bumper – and that the hanging elements are little more than styling cues, however it seems odd in either case for the intakes to be obscured.

Both the Gallardo and Huracan’s squat dimensions have been retained in what’s now the classic junior Lambo silhouette.

Behind the doors and cabin is a quartet – two on each side – of intakes feeding the electrified twin-turbocharged V8 powertrain said to operate like a naturally aspirated engine at low and medium revs before the turbochargers come online at 7000rpm and keep blowing all the way to the 10,000rpm redline.

No power or torque figures have been published yet but it’s safe to assume the plug-in V8 will comfortably outstrip the old 5.2-litre V10 which howled out up to 471kW/585Nm in swansong Huracan Tecnica guise.

The location of the system’s charging port on the vehicle’s right hip is given away by a high-voltage warning sticker, one of many scattered around the body.

The rear of the new model is dominated by its singular hexagonal exhaust outlet and a disguised rear diffuser which sits atop the minimalist rear bumper.

At this stage the tail-lights are little more than LED strips obscured by clearly fake Huracan replicas, while rear visibility looks as if it’ll be tight going by the raised bonnet buttresses which sit flush with the roof.

Huge brakes can be seen behind the aggressive alloy wheels, which in turn are shod with equally wide rubber – which we can see plenty of, thanks to the reduced rear bumper.
