Genesis Europe and respected German off-road tuner Delta 4x4 have pulled the wraps off the new Genesis GV70 Project Overland concept, previewing a more rugged all-terrain take on the Korean car-maker’s mid-size luxury SUV.
Featuring a high-lift suspension kit that raises the body by around 48mm at all corners, Project Overland rides on 18-inch alloy wheels shod with grippier Continental ATR tyres to boost grip and traction off road.
Up front, to help its driver spot obstacles on trails, Delta 4x4 has fitted a set of four Baja Design LED lights and blanked out the side air-intakes.
Helping accommodate the wider tyres, the Bavarian-based off-road 4x4 specialist has also created a set of four bolt-on wheel-arches.
Finally, there’s a new roof rack incorporating another two LED light bars to illuminate far further than the standard vehicle, as well as a set of orange recovery tracks and a pair of large luggage stowage bins.
If camping is more your style than hardcore off-roading, earlier this year Genesis previewed a new retractable rooftop tent from Korean firm iKamper, which can sleep up to three adults or two adults and two children, depending on its internal configuration.
There’s no word on whether Delta 4x4 has made any changes under the bonnet, but it’s thought the GV70 Project Overland is powered by the standard car’s twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6, which musters a healthy 279kW of power and 530Nm of torque.
The Genesis GV70 is also available in EV guise, but it’s not clear whether any of the Project Overland off-road upgrades would be applicable if they reached production.
Sadly, for those attracted by the proposition of a more capable mid-size premium SUV, the new Genesis GV70 Project Overland is a one-off concept that has been created for the Essen motor show, where it will be officially unveiled on December 1.
