Renault's rush-hour antidote
Stressed-out motorists offered therapy through a new website promoting the Renault LatitudeRoad rage is the inevitable outcome of a world pushed to the very edge by motoring mayhem, but as a new microsite from Renault demonstrates, it all starts at home.
At least that's how the staff at motoring.com.au interpreted the video footage compiled for the site. Two out of the three families taking part in the Renault Latitude Stress Test microsite had kids — loveable, boisterous... realistic kids. Our advice for stress relief: Forget traffic, forget the anticipation of the "boss's Powerpoint presentation", reducing stress might be as simple as contraception...
Still, if that ship has sailed, the Renault site suggests the company's Latitude mid-size car could be the means of coping with the horrors of peak-hour traffic. The voiced-over description of the Latitude as a "ginseng bath on alloy wheels" just might strike a chord — with people who know what ginseng is and take regular baths. That leaves not a few of the motoring.com.au staff none the wiser…
A word to those of delicate sensibilities: Describing the car's massaging seat as one "that touches places that haven't been touched for a long time" seems to us just a little bit creepy. And one trusts that the Latitude won't simply swap adrenalised, hot-button temperament for lassitude. We don't need more zombies on the road...
