One-off $25 million Bugatti heading to Geneva

New coach-built hypercar likely to be Divo-based and easily become world's most expensive car

Bugatti will unveil a new one-off hypercar at the next month's Geneva motor show, it has been revealed.

According to an insider said to be working closely with Bugatti, who spoke to

, the new hypercar -- believed to be based on either the Chiron or Divo -- has been built for Ferdinand Piech, the Volkswagen Group's former Supervisory Board Chairman.

Piech, 81, the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, is reported to have a vast car collection that's includes at least one Bugatti Veyron.

The one-off hypercar, rumoured to have cost an incredible $18 million ($A25m) to produce, is yet another statement of intent that Bugatti intends to become a coachbuilder as well as car-maker following the Bugatti Divo's reveal at the 2018 Pebble Beach car show.

Thought to have been created to be a lighter, even faster version of the Chiron or Divo, the unnamed Bugatti hypercar destined for Piech's collection could come with a mildly uprated version of the 1120kW/1600Nm quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine.

That means the one-off Bugatti should hit 100km/h in a fraction more than two seconds and top out in excess of 420km/h.

It's thought Bugatti will begin teasing its latest Chiron-based creation over the next few weeks.
